Trevor Siemian is officially on the trade block

A seventh rounder in 2015, Siemian has outplayed his expectations. Over the last few seasons he has had his up and downs. In week 3 of 2016 Trevor was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 300 yard 4 TD performance. He finished with a 132.1 quarterback rating.

Week 2 of the 2017 season was nearly as impressive. Many may have wrote the Broncos off against the Dallas Cowboys early. The Cowboys were impressive in their first year under Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. From the start, however, Denver’s offense got up to pace in a hurry. Siemian finished 22-32 for 231 yards and 4 TDs.

Many thought after both weeks that these performances were a look at what was to come. These games turned out to be more of a blip on the radar. I’ve said this before but he’s another that when he is good he can be great. Though when he is off his game he fell way off.

Trevor Siemian is a serviceable backup without question. In a time of need he can step in and be a type of game manager. He didn’t often lose a game for those around him and a couple times even elevated the team. Poor consistency seems to be the main factor to the speculation that Siemian is on the move. The Broncos were always more likely to move on from #13 and give Paxton Lynch every chance to right his struggling.

Recent reports have Siemian possibly fitting with the Jets where he would reconnect with Rick Dennison. I’ve heard before that he would fit in with the Falcons where Greg Knapp has landed. Knapp was Siemian’s quarterbacks coach with the Broncos in his two years starting.

What are your thoughts on the trade rumors and did Siemian do enough to become a starter somewhere else?
